Rockville, MD, December 6, 2016 – EXCEL Services Corporation (EXCEL), is pleased to announce the expansion of its executive leadership team. Effective January 1, 2017, Michael McMahon will join EXCEL as Senior Vice President, Business Development, and Mark Satorius will join EXCEL as Senior Vice President, Executive Regulatory Services. The addition of McMahon and Satorius to the executive team complements the recent appointment of Richard Rosano as EXCEL’s Senior Vice President, Critical Infrastructure Protection. All three will report directly to Donald Hoffman, President and CEO of EXCEL.

In his role as Senior Vice President, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Richard Rosano leads EXCEL’s Security Services Practice and is responsible for the development, management, and regulatory oversight of security programs at client sites. Rosano has more than 40 years of experience and has held positions at executive and management levels in nuclear security, critical infrastructure protection, and incident response. His career includes 32 years with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), culminating as the Chief, Nuclear Reactor Security, and senior security advisor to three NRC Chairmen. His involvement in the international sphere of nuclear security has included advising several foreign governments as well as commercial entities on matters involving nuclear security licensing, inspection, and testing. He has published a number of articles on the subject, and serves as a long-term member of a permanent task force for the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Nuclear Energy Institute, and has been the featured speaker at U.S. and international conferences for the IAEA, World Institute of Nuclear Security, NATO, and the National Nuclear Security Conference.
As Senior Vice President, Business Development, Michael McMahon will oversee EXCEL’s sales, marketing, and business development activities, including customer relationship management, sales planning, order development, and customer satisfaction. McMahon has more than 25 years of professional engineering, leadership, project management, sales, and business development experience in the commercial nuclear industry and the nuclear navy, including 17 years at the global nuclear energy company AREVA. Most recently, he served as the President & CEO of Transnuclear, Inc. (now AREVA TN), a division of AREVA Inc. and a leader in used nuclear fuel/radioactive waste storage and transportation solutions, where he helped to lead the company to record levels of growth and profitability. Prior to AREVA TN, he held technical and business development leadership positions of increasing responsibility, both in the U.S. and in Europe. Before joining AREVA, he worked as an associate at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company and was a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy.
Capping a long and distinguished career at the NRC, Mark Satorius will now serve as EXCEL’s new Senior Vice President, Executive Regulatory Services. In this role, he will be responsible for leading EXCEL’s newest service offering which will use the highest levels of industry expertise to create solutions for clients’ most critical and difficult regulatory challenges. Prior to joining EXCEL, Satorius spent 26 years at the NRC, where he served in several senior leadership positions, including Administrator, NRC Region III; Director, Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Programs; and as the Executive Director for Operations (EDO). As the EDO, he was the chief operating officer of the Commission, and was authorized and directed to discharge all the operational and administrative functions necessary for the day-to-day operations of the agency. Satorius has testified before Congressional Committees and at NRC Commission Meetings on topics such as safety and security issues at licensed nuclear facilities. Since retiring from the NRC, Satorius has been appointed to the United Arab Emirates International Advisory Group where he provides safety and security insights to the Emirati Regulator as they prepare to transition their first nuclear power plant from construction to operations. Satorius was also a nuclear submarine officer with extensive operational experience aboard a nuclear-powered submarine. He attained formal certification from the Director of the Naval Reactors Program as a Qualified Nuclear Engineering Officer.
